How it all started...

It didn’t occur to me that I will be teaching. Personally, I do not have the slightest idea what is to become of me after graduation. I didn’t actually plan a long term plan let alone a short one. Thinking of the possibilities of what can I do or work as with a degree in Publishing. Generally, when publishing comes to mind most of us would think of anything there is to do with books or printing or even writing. Allah is the All-Knowing, He knows exactly what is good and what is bad for us. Teaching for me started when I was still in uni doing my degree. Well, not teaching, but more of tutoring.

Research is a subject most dislike by most of the students in my faculty. I do not know why. It was quite challenging even for me at first. Being a rookie in doing research as I did not know anything. Finding a problem statement was already a hassle for me. But Alhamdulillah, it was then that I learned something new. I learned how to use the google advance search. I knew then by using advance search I can read all the academic materials I want. It’s a heaven for academic journals. All you need to do is just type in the subject matter and Voila.

I remember how nervous I was every time when there was Research lecture. The class was divided into two sessions, tutorial and the lecture itself. But then again, research, in my opinion is something that everybody must know how to do. It teaches you how to organize your flow of thoughts. So that everything will look neat. But the part I like the most about doing research is that you get to do lots and lots of reading which I enjoy doing Alhamdulillah. After a few sessions I started to develop a liking towards the subject. Henceforth, that is how I started teaching, helping my friends to understand the subject.

Anyway, the teaching profession for me is fine and dandy. As far as my degree is concerned. I can always write and publish my own books now that I have a subject matter to write about. Writing about education and the English language sounds like a good start, don’t you think? I would like to end my ramblings with a hypothesis: “If you can understand poetry in a particular language, you can understand anything written in that particular language.”
